Crazy Frog Fined By Icstis

It seems that people who unwittingly signed up for Jamster's Crazy Frog ringtone subscription service will get a refund.

Icstis has ordered the service provider MBlox to refund 338 people who complained directly to it. Mblox has also been fined 40,000UKP.

But why is MBlox and not Jamster having to pay out?

Well it's MBlox who are Jamster's service provider, and the people who have the contracts with the phone providers. Under current legislation in the UK, Icstis can only regulate premium rate service providers.

The ruling found that the terms and conditions on the Crazy Frog ads omitted significant information and were unclear about what the service entailed.

However, the fines are a tiny proportion of the estimated 10,000,000UKP made by the two companies.
