Vodafone To Start Advertising On Live!

Users of Vodafone's Live! service will find themselves at receiving end of ads when they visit the portal soon.

With mobile internet usage soaring, companies are seeing advertising on mobile devices increasingly attractive.

At at press conference last week Vodafone Chief Executive, Arun Sarin, said Will advertising come to mobile? Of course. Think how good a one-to-one relationship we have with our customers.

Vodafone's Head of Category Management, Jonathon Bill, expanded on this promising to formalise Vodafone's approach to off-net content with advertising being a key part of that business offering.

However, Anders Schonberg of WaveMetrix points out in this weeks New Media Age though users are using the mobile internet more, they are far from satisfied with operator portals such as Vodafone Live!. The most common complaint was the difficulty of navigating and the cost of the content when found.

These are issues that will need to be addressed to keep up interest in the mobile internet for everyday users.
