BBC Ringtone Creator

The BBC is entering the ringtone market with a new service that allows visitors to their website to compose their own ringtone.

As all a polyphonic ringtone really is a midi file, the BBC are putting online a midi sequencer that visitors to Blue Peter or Radio 1's Scott Mills sites can use to create a ringtone.

The final ringtone can be downloaded to any WAP (how I hate that term) enabled mobile phone for the price of a text message. I would assume there are data charges here as well, but I've not tested the service myself to say for sure as it requires Shockwave to be installed.

It's a great idea, and hats off to the beeb for putting it together.
