Anti-spam Link Attribute

A lot of key search engines and blog providers have got together to try to battle comment spam.

Google and Yahoo have announced they will honour the rel="nofollow" attribute for links, and not include pages linked that way in their search results. So links I don't want search engines to index are written as...

<a href="http://www.spammersite.com/" rel="nofollow">mortgage approved</a>

I've implemented this for my trackbacks, though I am worried I will deny link juice to genuine linkers to my site. What I will do soon is to make sure genuine trackbacks are approved and have this new tag removed so they get due credit for linking to me,

The Register warns about a Balkanized web if too many people start to use this attribute for genuine links.
