Faked Spam And Irrate Americans

I had an email from an irrate American today complaining about spam I'd supposedly sent.

Like most people he's not very interested in some Dutch girls spunk farm, and neither am I. However, yet again I'm a victim of forged email headers, making it appear that the spam originated from my domain.

What I find amusing is that this chap must of taken the time to visit this website to look up my contact details as my mail server is set to block all but one or two email addresses because of spam.

Of course you should never reply to spam as they then know your email address is valid. Most spam these days also contains a dynamic image that registers a hit on the spammers site and says you've opened the email and so your email address is valid.

He then treatens to set the FBI on me, not once, but 4 times. Quite what juristiction the FBI have outside the US is debateable, but that is another matter. Most spam is by Americans for Americans anyway.

I assume this guy must be intelligent as his email address seems to be from a very specialist scientific company, so why doesn't he do simple things like checking the message headers to see if the message is genuine or not?

There are times when spam just drives you to distraction, but always think before you act!
