Homemade Pizza
Nothing can beat a fresh homemade pizza. This recipe gives you a good fresh bread base that smells and tastes absolutely divine. This recipe will make 2 individual pizzas or one large.
You'll need the following ingredients...
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Yeast
- 1 Teaspoon Sugar
- 1/2 Pint Water
- 10 Ounces (maybe more) Strong White Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Teaspoons Olive Oil
- Your favourite toppings!
Follow the instructions below for fresh homemade pizza.
- Activate the yeast by mixing it with the sugar and 1/4 pint of warm water (1 part boiling to 2 parts cold).
- Leave this to get to work for about 10 minutes. It should start to foam a bit.
- Sieve the flour and salt together into a mixing bowl.
- Make a well in the middle of the flour and add the olive oil, the yeasty water, and the remaining 1/4 pint of warm water.
- Mix into a stiff dough (you may need to add a bit more flour if it's too runny, or more water if it's too dry).
- Knead the dough until it's strechty.
- Return it to the bowl and leave it somewhere warm, covered by a clean cloth, for about 45 minutes. The dough should rise during this time.
- Knead for a few minutes, split it in two (if making 2 pizzas), and roll out into rough circles.
- Put this on a greased baking tray, and add your favourite toppings.
- Bake for about 30 minutes on the top shelf of an over at Gas Mark 4 (180F).
- Remove and eat!
I hate tomato, so don't use it as a topping. Mozzarella and cheddar cheese mixed together gives a great cheese topping. Some fresh onion, chopped flat mushroom, thyme and oregano added to this makes a tasty treat.
